The Government Communications Network was established in July, 2018 and, with representation from communications professionals across the civil and public service, currently has over 400 members. The Network holds monthly networking events, facilitated by the Government Information Service (GIS) in the Department of An Taoiseach, showcases expert speakers, and covers a wide variety of topics relating to communications in the public service.

These monthly Network meetings work to encourage collaboration between civil and public service organisations, ensuring that information is shared and acknowledged. This further strengthens relationships across the public service, and contributes to improved communications and engagement with the public.
