An Garda Síochána (AGS): Active Mobility Service (AMS)
Garda Mobility Strategy & Pilot: Providing Garda members with mobile access to information and technology.
The Mobility Strategy is being implemented to create an approach that puts mobility at the heart of all future technology developments. The ACTIVE Mobility Service (AMS) is a 6 month limited Pilot Project, within the Limerick Division. The pilot project aims to provide a vision and a plan of how Garda members will gain mobile access to information and technology in their roles within An Garda Síochána. It envisages improved efficiencies and service delivery, in particular to rural areas.
50 participants across different business areas have been issued with a personal Mobile Data Station, running a standard Garda mobile platform. It aims to increase the ability of An Garda Síochána to embrace 21st century technology as a pre-requisite to developing and implementing modern policing processes that meet the digital needs of citizens.
The project is aligned with other work-streams and projects under the Garda Mobility Strategy, including the Enterprise Mobility Management Platform (EMM) project, which is a necessary initial step to design and secure the management of data, provide access to Garda applications and provide the required level of security controls on official mobile devices. While app functionality is important, the focus will be on evaluating the end to end business and ICT processes required to enable continuous service improvement.
